Losing a tooth isn’t just about your smile. It’s about how you eat, how you talk, and how you feel when you catch your reflection in a window. Maybe you’ve been living with a gap for a while now. Maybe your dentures slip when you laugh. Or maybe you’ve just started exploring your options, and you’re not sure where to begin.
Dental implants are the closest thing we have to a natural tooth. Not a replacement that sits on top of your gums, but an actual permanent solution for missing teeth, including the root. And yes, that sounds like a big deal. Because it is.

What Is a Dental Implant?
A natural tooth has two main parts: the crown you see above the gum line, and the root that anchors it into your jawbone. A dental implant replaces both.
The implant itself is a small titanium post. We place it into your jawbone through a minor surgical procedure. Over the next few months, your bone grows around that post and fuses with it. This process is called osseointegration, which makes implants so stable. Once that bond forms, the implant is essentially part of your jaw.
Then we attach a custom-made crown on top. The result looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth. You brush and floss it like normal. You forget it’s even there.
Why Bone Health Matters
When you lose a tooth, the bone that used to support it starts to shrink. The bone needs stimulation to stay strong, and chewing provides that stimulation. Without a tooth root, nothing stimulates the bone.
Over time, that bone loss can change your face shape. It can make your remaining teeth shift. It can also make dentures fit worse and worse.
An implant solves that problem. Because it fuses with your bone, it provides the stimulation your jaw needs to stay healthy. That’s why we call implants the only tooth replacement that preserves bone.
The Implant Process at Dazzling Dentistry
Getting an implant isn’t a single appointment. It’s a journey, and we walk you through every step.
- The consultation: We take X-rays and sometimes a 3D scan to assess your bone. If you don’t have enough bone, we might recommend a bone graft first.
- The placement: We numb the area completely, so you won’t feel anything during the procedure. We place the implant post into your jawbone and close the gum tissue around it.
- Healing: Healing takes a few months. During that time, the bone fuses with the implant. You might wear a temporary tooth, so you’re not walking around with a gap.
- Attaching your permanent crown: You come back, and we bond your permanent crown to the implant. And that’s it. You’ve got a tooth that functions like it’s always been there.
Are You a Candidate?
Most people are, but not everyone. You need enough bone to support the implant. You need healthy gums. And you need to be in good general health, since implant placement is a minor surgical procedure.
If you’re not a candidate, don’t worry. Other options include bridges and dentures. We’ll talk through all of them honestly.
Restore Your Smile at Dazzling Dentistry
If you’ve been missing a tooth and putting off treatment, we get it. It’s easy to convince yourself it’s not a big deal. But the gap doesn’t stay the same. Your bone changes. Your bite shifts. And your other teeth start to move. The sooner you address it, the more options you have.
